I am still annoyed that I missed the PSFK conference here in London recently, but at least I can watch the presentation from Timo Veikkola - Future Strategist at Nokia - as many times as I want (link below). The presentation is great on the current 'down-to-earth' movement in not only forecasting, but consultancy too. The other thing that stands out for me is the positive future he sees emerging. It is probably time for you to take a look, before I rabbit on anymore:

Now, I have some more questions about how this 'fantastic' future is actually going to come about, but the intention is something I am behind. You can't argue with positivity and the Future, as with our current condition, is so often painted with a negative brush (Richard Watson: Now and Next). It is easy to see things disappear, it is much harder to see what is replacing them.
(A big thank you to Lee McEwan for reminding me to blog about this.)
